The monogram is a ¼-inch-deep walnut inlay, fitted into the maple and sanded flush for a smooth transition between the two woods. It isn't a surface engraving or burned lettering: the initial is built into the board.

Both the maple board and the walnut monogram use end grain construction, matching the grain orientation of the two woods. Choose any initial from A through Z for your own kitchen or a personalized gift.
